Cardigan, J.Crew. Dress and scarf, H&M. Pumps, Nine West.
Last night I read the first half of a rather sad book (which I will review very soon) and watched Psycho for the fourth or fifth time and let me tell you, I was in a funk. Not because of the notorious shower scene - that's child's play! In fact, I got over that the first time I watched it, at age ten. Think back to Janet Leigh's driving scenes (at night, during the day, in the rain) accompanied by classic Hitchcockian music while thoughts swirl in her head. She imagines what would happen in the office after her departure, what her boyfriend would say when he saw her, and so on. Although mundane compared to being repeatedly stabbed in the shower, the inner turmoil seems a lot more relatable, thus more frightening. But I digress! To exit this aforementioned funk, I scooped up Lemony Snicket's 13 Words, a book that teaches children words such as Haberdashery and Mezzo-Soprano. Naturally, uncontrollable laughter ensued.

Vancouver Vistas
A fun fact you may not know about me: when I'm not not busy drenching myself in color and posing away, I love to drink in some Vancouver vistas. You would do the same! Just look at this random selection. It's enough to make you lovesick or at least give you a mild case of location envy (gratuitous diagnosing runs in my family of non-doctors, so feel free to find this annoying). I know all the best beaches, the restaurants with a view, and how to make the most of the rain (reading! trench-coats! daydreaming!). So, have you booked your flight yet?

The Importance of Being Exciting
Sweater, J.Crew. Skirt, Modern Amusement. Beads, thrifted. Tights, Hue. Pumps, Nine West.
I've been amusing myself with Microsoft Publisher and while my sister has been enjoying my photographic "art" as of late, she also warned me about becoming too gimmicky. Somehow I feel like I just crossed that line today. The truth is, I wanted to keep things interesting around here. Relationships are difficult and it's imperative to keep the spark alive, right? Consider this orange-framed trio the more modern version of the threesome-on-your-birthday that you wanted. You're welcome.

Aqua with a side of Aquamarine
Cardigan and dress, J.Crew. Belt, H&M. Flats, Browns.
I usually don't dress quite so matchy-matchy, but I couldn't resist the tropical allure of these shades (that and I'm working with a pretty basic rotation system). The dress and cardigan were also purchased ten months apart, so it's not like they came as a set... All right, I'm done apologizing! I love this look. It gives me wings and more importantly, flexibility. I can KICK, and STRETCH, and KICK. I'm... twenty-six.

The Elegance Of The Hedgehog
Cardigan, J.Crew. Skirt, thrifted. Knee socks, DKNY. Wellies, Hunter.
I've been meaning to read Muriel Barbery's The Elegance of the Hedgehog for over a year now and I just can't seem to find the patience to do it, despite the glowing reviews. Lately, it has been clawing its way out of my subconscious and into my poses, as seen below. Really, I did not plan this! So, what are my options here? Read it, read it or... read it. Will someone please tell me they've read it and it's worth every word?

Don't Give Up On Us, Baby
Sweater, Tommy Hilfiger. Skirt, Banana Republic. Headband, Forever 21. Belt and necklace (worn as a bracelet), vintage+mom's. Tights, Hue. Pumps, Nine West.
I've had this silk skirt since the fall of 2004 and even though it is stained beyond repair, I refuse to give up on it. Yeah, I'm fiercely loyal. I also believe that someday I will come across a dry-cleaner with a magic solution and the skirt and I will live happily ever after (not that we're not happy now, we are, but she gets embarrassed going out in public sometimes and then we end up in counseling again).

Welcome Back
Blouse and skirt, Banana Republic. Belt, Eddie Bauer. Tights, from my sister. Flats, Browns.
Phew! I'm glad everyone's back from gobbling turkey because frankly, it was getting quite lonely out here in the blogosphere. Don't get me wrong - I'm happy you guys had fun, but I really missed you. At first it was worry and then worry turned to paranoia and I imagined you cheating! Yes, cheating. Complimenting another 5'6'' preppy girl, telling her she's remixing well. Is she better than I or just... newer? I know relationships have their ups and downs and I didn't expect us to be in the first flush forever, but I'm the jealous type. Now you know. Welcome back!
