Jane Eyre

Dress & cardigan, J.Crew. Tights, Hue. Wellies, Hunter.

Although I love to wear wellies and cardigans day in and day out, I'm craving lighter layers these days: an airy silk blouse, a comfortable pair of sandals, flashing a smile and an ankle. An ankle? You heard me. I got inspired by the latest cinematic version of Jane Eyre, which I enjoyed immensely (the '96 Charlotte Gainsbourg version was also good, but we needed a new one). Michael Fassbender's Mr. Rochester is alluring, albeit a bit too forceful and frightening, and Mia Wasikowska's subtle portrayal of the classic heroine doesn't disappoint. In my humble yet cinephiliac opinion, she's one of the best young actresses today - right up there with the equally subtle Ms. Mulligan.

I really enjoyed the new Jane Eyre also. I was sad that nobody else I knew had seen it (not a big hit here in LA). But I agreed that it was time for a new version and that one was beautiful dark and cozy and subtle. Mia was maybe the best Jane Eyre I've seen. It's always hard to pack all that story into two hours but I thought they did a great job.

p.s. great pictures!

Oh, Jane Eyre... I love that book. And I'm dying to see this new version; I'm glad to hear it's good. Despite your longing for lighter layers, I do love that orange cardi over the pretty navy dress!

Just saw you on "Color Brigade." Love the color combination, and wellies are always fun (I never get to wear them here in LA!)

On a side note about "Jane Eyre": don't you think Michael Fassbender is too pretty to be Mr. Rochester? That's what I thought :P

Great combination. You don't typically think to pair navy and black together, but this looks great!

GASP, an ANKLE? Scandalous. Yeah I kind of sighed at the thought of yet another Jane Eyre (Timothy Dalton FTW, yes I'm old (not that old)) but with your recommendation I'll have to put in a view.
