The City of Woe

Cardigan and tank, J.Crew. Jeans and pumps, Banana Republic.

In college, this silk tank was a life-saver at impromptu parties with no dress-code or theme (most had themes though, phew). It cleverly disguised both the Freshman 15 and the Junior Minus25 (What can I say? I was an emotional kid). It has been hiding in the back of my closet, on a hanger under more desirable tops for years now, but no more. I am now emotionally ready to don it again. You don't scare me anymore, beautiful green-brown-and-petal-pink print!
Do you ever keep clothes that you can't bear to wear because they are too entrenched in the past? Although I'm by no means a clotheshorse, my closet is a minefield of memories, some that need to be erased and some that just need to take a sabbatical. Sometimes I abandon all hope and enter it, only to find an old friend that looks as good as new! I guess that's what they mean by "Shop your own closet."

That tank is perfect - love how versatile it is!

And I absolutely have held onto clothes (but not worn them) because of the emotional impact. They're too good to let go of but it's too hard to wear them. I forced myself to let go of a good number of them the last time I cleaned out my closet, but it was rough. Glad to know I'm not the only one who does this!

that tank is great, very verstile. I find I have the same problem walking into my wardrobe, I can stare at my clothes for awhile before I find something that I kinda forgot about

I remember that tank! You look lovely dahling. It makes me so happy to see your smiling fashionista face in my google reader every day!

Also a big fan of the pumps, though I'm a ballet flats girl myself.

I hold onto accessories longer then clothes for some reason. Going done memory lane with a item is Great!! btw: I see your enjoying your new heels!?

ps. You don't have to use pictures, just do the 7 things instead.

I love finding old friends in my closet. :) That sounds weird.

Your tank is very cheery on a winter's day! I'm finally going to do something about a skirt that's been in my closet for eight years and doesn't fit me. I'm going to take it apart and restyle it. In other words, add material and make it fit me.

oh gosh agreed on how one's closet can be so filled with memories. I'm definitely the type of person to hold on to specific garments for sentimental reasons.

love the shoes x

Is it weird that I can't take my eyes off the jeans even when there's so much fun print going on upstairs? You have the best jeans. I'll shop your closet, thanks. ;)
